They are worth it. Campaigner and Mailchimp are really easy to use. These platforms allow visitors to easily subscribe to get news automatically whenever new posts happen, or you can manually send them emails.

Once you have your blog up and running there is lot’s you can do for optimization, although nothing seems to beat writing lots of great content. For those who want to geek out and optimize their blogs, this plugin is great.

Now, you can do this yourself for free, but it takes quitting smoking levels of commitment! If you print out your emails so you can read them and then give them back to your assistant to send with comments, then this stuff is just not for you. Don’t force this stuff on low-level employees to do it for free or it will never help you. Don’t give this to the web hosting company that promises professional websites with SEO for $10/month. Just hire someone to do it who knows what they’re doing. For a couple grand at most, it’s a small investment to make for the benefit you’ll receive. You can always pay to have everything set up properly and then take it from there!

Most importantly, a blog without good content is like a car with no gas, it might look OK, but won’t take you anywhere.
